At 49, I wore the same dress twice on one weekend away. Even my husband noticed.
I bought the Moana dress for a weekend away on the Sunshine Coast and ended up wearing it twice while we were there, which probably says enough by itself.
Comfortable, without looking like I've given up
I'm 49 and my main problem with shopping lately is that I want to be comfortable without looking like I've given up! Especially in Queensland heat, anything too fitted or synthetic-feeling goes straight back into the wardrobe.
How I found it
I saw the dress on Instagram originally. I didn't order immediately because I was worried it might be one of those dresses that looks flowy in photos but is actually very thin or awkward in real life. Eventually I thought I'd just try it.
The first time I put it on
My first reaction when I put it on was that it was much easier to wear than I expected. I didn't need to keep pulling at it or checking myself in the mirror. I could just put sandals on and go.
What happened that weekend
My husband, who normally notices absolutely nothing I wear, actually said, “That's a nice dress,” so I nearly fell over 😂.
A woman at breakfast the next morning also asked me where I got it.
Three things I've noticed
- It's comfortable in the heat.
- I like that it gives me room around my stomach.
- It doesn't take much effort to style. Sandals and earrings were honestly enough. Mine has also washed well so far.
About the price
I thought the price was pretty normal for what I'd expect to pay for a dress I can actually wear regularly. I'd rather spend a little more on something I reach for than have three cheaper dresses sitting untouched in my wardrobe.
What I'd tell a girlfriend
Don't expect a very structured fitted dress. That isn't what it is. If you want something easy, flattering and comfortable for lunches, holidays or summer days, that's where I think it works best.
